Adam, this blog and your effort to continually improve it are amazing. One thing that drives me nuts though, is the chat timeline during the livestreaming. It is just cluttered with utter and complete nonsense that has nothing to do with videography/cinematography. The worst offenders are some of the Event DV Top 25 people, too. I know you have no control over what they do at the time, but maybe you can shoot out an email to the Ray Romans and Travis Cossel’s of the industry and tell them to just Skype each other on their own time if they want to re-create a high school locker room. I found it ironic that Travis’s wife, Candice is one of the featured guests and he’s in the timeline just cluttering with sexual innuendo and other crap. For me to set aside an hour or so of my editing schedule to try to get educated and stay current is a big deal. We’re small-timers compared to them, but definitely striving to improve our product. So when the Candice and Tatjana are speaking and I’m checking out the timeline to see if any has same questions as me, so i don’t repeat. There’s the great Ray Roman making fun of Green and her lighting, Travis and Michael LaFrance going back and forth about Candice’s figure. REALLY?!?! I can see a comment here or there, but one non-stop hour of foolishness was frustrating beyond belief. Why is the great Ray Roman even on there anyway?!/! Was he really gleaning info from either one of them?!? Doubt it! No, he’s there to mess around because he has nothing else better to do. I felt like I was in class trying to learn and a handful of class clowns were just going off without a care in the world. ATTN: Event DV top 25 hot shots, please stay away from the livestream chat rooms. You already know what you’re doing. We get it. You’re great. Please step aside, and let Adam and his guests do their thing. You guys all just had a week together at InFocus to self-congratulate. |

Adam, one more suggestion. Since Facebook doesn’t keep the group posts forever, maybe we should go back through the posts and find the ones that contain great info and copy the posts to here, in a Forum Archive area and have it sorted by topic of discussion. Then the discussion can continue in the comments area on this site. I’d wait until something tends to roll off the first few pages, so we capture the content in its full form and don’t have to worry too much about refreshing it. |
